What the research shows.

Cochrane systematic review and meta-analysis of 18 RCTs (n=1,781) evaluating zinc supplementation for the common cold. Zinc lozenges or syrup (doses above 75 mg/day) taken within 24 hours of symptom onset significantly reduced cold duration by approximately 1 day and reduced symptom severity in healthy adults.Singh & Das, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2013
Meta-analysis of 5 RCTs examining zinc supplementation for testosterone levels. Zinc supplementation (30-250 mg/day for 4-26 weeks) in zinc-deficient or marginally deficient men significantly increased serum testosterone levels. The effect was most pronounced in men with suboptimal baseline zinc status.Prasad et al., Nutrition, 1996
