Sodium Lactate
Sodium (S)-2-Hydroxypropanoate
The sodium salt of naturally occurring lactic acid, and a key component of the skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). In formulations, sodium lactate serves as a humectant, pH adjuster, and skin-conditioning agent that helps the stratum corneum retain moisture.
