Iodine

Iodine (as Potassium Iodide)

An essential trace mineral required for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. The thyroid gland actively concentrates iodine from the bloodstream to produce thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which regulate metabolic rate, protein synthesis, and the growth cycle of hair, skin, and nails.
