Coenzyme Q10

Ubiquinone-10

A fat-soluble, vitamin-like compound naturally produced in every cell and concentrated in the mitochondrial inner membrane. CoQ10 is an essential electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain and one of the body's most important lipid-soluble antioxidants. Endogenous production declines with age, and statin medications further deplete tissue levels.

§ 1The molecules

Active compounds.

No.01

Ubiquinone

2,3-Dimethoxy-5-methyl-6-decaprenyl-1,4-benzoquinone

Why this matters

  • 01Supports mitochondrial energy production by facilitating electron transfer in the respiratory chain*
  • 02Helps maintain healthy antioxidant defenses against lipid peroxidation*
  • 03Supports cardiovascular function and healthy cellular energy metabolism*
No.02

Ubiquinol

Reduced Coenzyme Q10

Why this matters

  • 01The reduced, active antioxidant form of CoQ10 that directly neutralizes free radicals*
  • 02Supports healthy energy levels during periods of physical or mental demand*

What the research shows.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled trials (1,126 participants) found that CoQ10 supplementation produced a statistically significant reduction in fatigue scores compared to placebo.Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
A meta-analysis of 31 double-blind RCTs (1,517 subjects) found that CoQ10 supplementation significantly reduced circulating levels of CRP, IL-6, and TNF-α, with a proposed optimal dose range of 300–400 mg per day.Molecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2023
